Harsh Realm letraset wordmark

Amesbury, MA | 2025

Brief: Create a secondary wordmark for my studio using Letraset for an authentic, DIY vibe.

My roles:

  • Typeset and distress Letraset by hand

  • Printing

  • Conversion to vector logo for easy reproduction

Project overview.

Sometimes the best briefs are the ones you give yourself. I love the look of Letraset and bought several sheets from a colleague, including some gorgeous sheets of Avant Garde that I intended to use for a wordmark.

Letraset is limiting by nature, with only 3-5 of each letter per sheet, so you are forced to be both careful and carefree. I improvised this workmark with minimal prep, intentionally broke and overlapped letters, and misaligned the text to evoke the DIY aesthetic of early punk posters. This workmark was initially incorporated into a T-shirt design featuring the famous Tacheles building and mural in Berlin (RIP).

After printing those shirts, I vectorized and adapted the wordmark so it could be used in other applications, including the stickers shown below.
